This photoshoot was a photographer’s dream! Casey and Jack are two long time friend that I’ve known since my freshman year of college at Missouri State University. Jack and I played soccer together and he met Casey the same year I met my wife. Since then, Jack and I have always been friends, he was even a part of my wedding party when I got married. That being said, it was an absolute pleasure to shoot this amazing couple’s engagement photos!

The weather was absolutely stunning. Low 80s, right at sunset with the sun setting right behind the art museum in Forest Park, near the central west end of St. Louis, Missouri. Forest Park is one of my favorite places to take photos in St. Louis, as it has all you could ask for in an easy to access area. You have the art museum with its beautiful architecture, you have the rolling green hills with large oak trees and other hardwoods that peak in their color in late October, and you have numerous ponds and fountains where you can get stunning water shots. Art Hill, where these photos were taken, has all three within a couple hundred yards walking distance. As an added bonus the sun sets directly behind the museum, allowing me to capture those amazing light flairs with the architecture in the background of Jack and Casey.

We started the shoot up by the museum, about an hour before sunset. There we rehearsed some of the spins and dips that I think make engagement photos incredible. We had to time most of the shots with traffic, so that there were little to no cars or people in the background, and some post production work was done whenever we had some unwanted people or cars in the background to make these photos stunning. Jack and Casey were naturals, they knew the poses and always had genuine smiles.

We then worked our way down the path where we took a few lawn photos. We dis some posed shots of the couple sitting down, and then we tried a photo I had never attempted before. Casey had the Idea to have an action photo of Jack playfully chasing Casey as if they were running happily through a meadow. After a few attempts the photos turned out great! We even added some with a vintage soccer ball that they brought.

Finally, we concluded the evening down by the fountains where we captured the last rays of the sun before it set behind Art Hill for the night. The photos turned out beautiful with the warm ray bouncing off the water and the white marble railings and statues. Combined with the turning leaves, it was the perfect ending to a stunning engagement photo shoot! I cannot wait to capture this amazing couple’s wedding in July of 2026!
